City parks and other attractions

If a garden is more your thing, Estrela Garden might be an excellent option. Built in the 19th century, with an English park inspiration, where the plants grow freely a little bit everywhere, today is also used for many different purposes, and it is not uncommon to find yoga classes, gym groups, photography workshops and other events. Another good option is Eduardo VII Park which is in the perfect location for an amazing view of downtown Lisbon and the Tagus river. 

Got kids? The Lisbon Zoo is one of the most pleasant and interesting places to visit in Lisbon,  as it offers a whole set of attractions where the visitors can experience many funny and relaxing moments.

Why not visit a Football (soccer) Stadium? After all, football is the national passion. When in Lisbon there are several options for local teams, but the biggest ones, without a doubt, are Sporting and Benfica. Both teams have museums and restaurants in their stadiums, so it can be a day well spent. 

If you’re looking for a more trendy experience, there is no way you can skip the LX Factory What was once a group of abandoned factories and warehouses gave origin to a hub of creativity where one can find, nowadays, art galleries, fashion and design, and all sort of trendy shops, restaurants and cafés. And you can visit it going to or coming back from Belém on the Tram 15, as it’s on its way.

Speaking of Belém, besides custard tarts (delicious ones, by the way) and monuments, this amazing area of Lisbon has also to offer one of the coolest cultural centers of the city: Belém Cultural Center. It is divided in 3 areas: the Meetings center, the Exhibitions center and the Performance center, making it the largest cultural complex in Lisbon. Here you will find a large program of activities that go from concerts, dance and ballet shows, to exhibitions, conferences or conventions.

On the complete opposite side of the city, there is the Nation’s Park, which was developed in the same area where the Expo 98 took place, taking advantage of the structures built for the exposition. A true paradise for architecture lovers that offers a landscape of boat-inspired buildings and gravity-defying buildings such as the Portugal Pavilion, done by the Portuguese architect Siza Vieira. The major attraction here is the Oceanário, but you can also find other things like the Vasco da Gama tower, with 140 meters high, cable cars covering all the riverside of the park, the Knowledge Pavilion, with a diversified range of scientific experiences, and the Altice Arena, used for shows.
